Credit Card SOL

What is the name of your state? New York
Oct, 2001 i made an electronic payment to my credit card from my checking account. It was posted to my credit card balance but it was never deducted from my checking acct. The bank never sent the check out. they discovered this and want me to pay in full, I called them and said I could not pay in full. what is the sol, would it apply to this? must I pay this? i have a bill that says it's paid in full. Please advise
