Credit Profile from ExperianHi, I recieved my credit profile from Experian and I had 3 outstanding debts. All three are in "charged off/written off" status. The report also indicated that the accounts would remain in that status until 10/2003. The amount of money that I owe is 11,000, 8,000, and 147.00. Being that the accounts will diminish from my credit profile in 10/2003, is it worth me paying the creditors? Will I still be liable for the debt once it diminshes from my credit profile? Can they repost the debt to my credit profile after it is removed in 10/2003? I live in New Jersey. Any help or advice that you have would be gread. Thanks |

| Chageoffs stay on the report for 7 years. You can be sued after the debts drop of the credit report, The SOL in NJ appears to be 6 years. Were I you, I'd lay low until the SOL has expired. If you do get sued past the SOL, you do have to show up in court and cite an SOL defense to the judge. It is illegal to reage accounts on your credit report. |

| Bigun - Do you mean for her to lay low until 10/2003? If she were to get sued after this date, when will she know the 6 year SOL is up? How often do creditors sue you after the negative accounts come off the credit reports? (deep breath...sigh). Thanks! |

| Poohbabe, The SOL starts with the last payment made to the creditor. It's called the DLA or Date of Last Activity. You just have to know when that happened. That's why you keep old check registers and bank statements so, if something arises from the past you have some inkling of the circumstances. AS to how often creditors sue? It just depends on what they think they can reasonably expect to recover in a reasonable period of time. There's just no way of knowing. |
