crt date sears


What is the name of your state? massachusetts had credit card in 1987 my wife was out of work from 1992 to 1994 bill got behind i had a cretid limit of 700.00 i culd not make minimum payments since 95 i have paid over 3000.00 now they are suing me for 3875.00 they said acc was closed in 2000 not in 1996.

Suggest you pull your credit reports - all 3 of them, and look for the 'date of last activity' - Experian is probably your best bet. Doesn't matter when they say it CLOSED, what matters is the last time you PAID. The charge-off date can also get you close to the DOLA. Subtract 180 days from the charge-off date.

However, if this really DID go delinquent in 1996, then unless is was LATE 1996, this thing shouldn't even be ON your credit reports.

If you have no records, statements, cancelled checks etc. to prove the last payment date, then send whatever collection agency is hounding you a validation demand letter and make THEM prove their claims.

Do what lady says-don't let these guys bully you. Sears is known for that and you have to stand your ground and use the law as it is written to your favor.
