default on settlement

What is the name of your state? From New York.

I settled a civil law suit against me .

I settled to pay $4,000.00

To make payments to the plaintiff of $100.00 a month.

The original amount the plaintiff went after was $8,000.00

Does a defualt if I no longer can pay mean I'm liable for the settlement amount?

Or the original claim of $8,000.00
by the plaintiff prior to the established settlement.

I'm unemployed now and can't pay until I get back to work.
