What is the name of your state? ok, my problem is that about, roughly 18 months ago we recieved a letter stating that my husband owed a debt from 97 (owe 367.00). i call and asked about the debt and they refused to tell me anything. they bought the debt from another collector. first problem is that we have sent letters asking for proof of this debt, and have recieved nothing. second problem is that they have my husbands ss# on the letters. what? and my final is that we never recieved anything for the first dc. what do i do now

According to www.creditinfocenter.com the SOL on debt in OK ran out a few years ago. I'd send a letter saying you have no reollection of the account and it is timebarred anyway and never contact you about this matter again. Send it CRRR.

With all due respect, we simply do not have enough information to respond as Bigun did.

Your post doesn't say anything about the type of debt, how it was incurred or when the last date of activity was. And since the OK SOL is 3 years for 'open account' and 5 years for written agreements, we can't say whether the debt is valid or not.

So, lets respond accurately:
"roughly 18 months ago we recieved a letter stating that my husband owed a debt from 97 (owe 367.00). i call and asked about the debt and they refused to tell me anything."
*** Correct. This is your husbands debt, not yours. As such, the collector is barred from telling you anything about it.... without his permission on file.

"first problem is that we have sent letters asking for proof of this debt, and have recieved nothing."
*** Who is 'we'?? Did your husband send this letter or did you sign it?? If you signed it, they don't have to respond..... remember, you have no standing as to the debt. What did you ask for in your letters and how did you ask. I suggest you use the sample letter provided at http://www.creditinfocenter.com/.
Also, did you send your letter by certified mail, RRR, so that you can prove that it was sent and that they received it??

"second problem is that they have my husbands ss# on the letters. what?"
*** And how is that a problem??

"and my final is that we never recieved anything for the first dc."
*** See my response above.

"what do i do now"
*** Do two things. Your husband (not you) needs to send them a 'Request for Validation" and a "Cease and Desist" letter. Samples of both are at the above referenced site. Send both letters, separately by certified RRR mail. Keep copies of ALL correspondence.

There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) pending in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution).

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!
