Food place changed my tip amount? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? IL I ate at a sit down place about 5 days a go and the charged posted on my account today. Bill was $20.01 Tip was $4.00 for a total of $24.01 Bank statements shows a purchase of $29.01. Now I am a decent tipper but I'm not going to tip 45% on a $20 bill for someone who basically poured me two drinks. Anything I can do about it? Thanks!! |

| How do you know that it wasn't just a simple case of a 4 being misread to be a 9?? Contact the restaurant and let them know. Ask them to correct it. If they don't, then contact your credit card company.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport! |

| Often times, restaurant charges will show up for slightly more than the amount you paid. Someone else will post and tell you why this happens, but it's happened to me several times. Keep an eye on your statement, and you should find the charges will be changed soon. |

I didn't get any free drinks or food and I was one of only two people eating at the bar. It's only $5 but it's the point. I eat out a lot and have never had an issue with this. My charges on my statement usually show up first as the base charge pending then when it goes through it's for the full dollar amount with the tip. |

| Sometimes the servers (who are typically young folks) will do this, figuring the customer won't pick this up. Go back the restaurant, ask to speak with the manager and point this out. Gail |

| I've had it happen. American Express deals with it promptly after I complain.

| This happened to me once. I went back to the restaurant and complained to the manager. He comped me the entire bill then fired the server on the spot.

| Wow that is a nice gesture from the restaurant. I would have felt a bit uncomfortable with them being there and fired on the spot though. Great story!! |

| Spoke with the manager today and then she called me back a few minutes later to confirm that indeed it was suppose to be $4. Said they will refund my $5 and send me out some gift cards. Anyway, I am happy this was resolved. Thanks for the advice. |
