garnishments

my husband and i live in florida. i am disabled and on social security, my husband is in the u.s.navy. we are in financial trouble due to me being disabled and going from two incomes to one. my ss not being nearly as much as i was making while working. we have thought about trying one of the debt consolidation companies like cccs. my question is: can a unsecured creditor get a judgment for payment and garnish my husbands income while we are currently working with one of the companies to try and get out of debt. we were told in the state of florida a crediter cannot garnish wages on unsecured credit. dont know whats true.
