This gives you some insight...

Pardon the off-topic nature. I believe this is something everyone should hear.
Here's a link to an NRP Real Audio feed where two debt collectors are interviewed. They used to be law students, now they buy portfolios worth millions. They even take a couple of calls during the interview.
NCO is mentioned, too... but nothing interesting.
It's worth a listen, as it gives one insight into the mentality and general character of a debt collector.
