Help!What is the name of your state? nevada i was given a summons yesterday from a collection agency. they have combined 3 bills, 2 of which are 2 years old. i havent heard anything from this company is almost 2 years and out of nowhere they send me a summons. I never recieved a certified letter or anything. is there anything in laws about not having to pay a debt that is over 2 years old ? is there anything i need to know or do? please help me, i have never had a summons before. |

| You are still with in the statute of limitations for a law suit. The summons is customary in a lawsuit that the debtor is trying to get judgment on. You have the opportunity to go to court and plead your case on why you don't own this bill. When they get judgment they can garnish your wages, attach property etc....

| If the papers are asking for you to answer, you HAVE to answer, you should not ignore it. If you can afford an attorney, then you might want to go that route and have it done right. If you can't, then you answer the questions using the same format that they used for your answer. Have you been given a court date ?
