Write a letter to the credit reporting agency asking them to show it paid in full. Provide copies of all receipts and a statement from Sears showing that the balance is $zero$.

Once your letter is received by an agency, it will have 30 days to contact your creditor and clear up the specific charge. After this period, it takes some time to update your account.
However, this late payment will stay on your record for 7 years and affect your credit score.
Also make sure that you see your reports from all 3 major credit agencies: Experian, Equifax, Trans Union.
