Help Please, can not take the stress

What is the name of your state? Ohio
Hi,
I have been sued 3 times now on different credit cards. I never ment for them to go bad. The company I was working for went out of buisiness ,at the last minute they let us know. Now I am in way over my head. What I really want to know is, can they take my car or my home? I have a little boy to take care of and I am worried to death.

Nikki,

You may want to consider bankruptcy. In many states, you would be able to reaffirm the debts on your auto and home and retain those assets while at the same time discharging unsecured debt. I would have to do some research on Ohio.

When you say you have been sued three times for credit cards, I presume that means that judgments have been awarded to the creditor. A bankruptcy will also discharge those judgments.

There are a lot of things to consider before bankruptcy. Why don't you email me at debtguy@hotpop.com. I have some questions for you and your answers may spur more questions. It is easier to do a back and forth by email than on a message board I only visit every couple of days.

Just a suggestion, nickki, but you might want to go visit the discussion forums at:

you can talk about your problems out in the open and get advice from a lot of knowledgable people that have been in the same position. Those folks will help...

Relax

Take a breather. Gather up all the documentation. You did save everything, right. If you have not received a judgment(s) yet, then consider contacting an attorney. If you were served with complaints follow the court instructions and answer them, that is if you still are within the time allowed. Everything in writing from here. You have a lot of control here. Don't discount that and ask a lot of question if you are unsure.
