I am overdrawn 1250 on my checkin with no job

What is the name of your state? PA

Hello, as the subject states I am overdrawn by 1250 by writing online checks out of my bank account. I completely screwed up. I owe it to a company in florida. Basically I see two choices:

1. I could close my bank account before the charges hit and I get feed and they get returned to the company

2. I could somehow get a loan or a credit card to pay it off, I am a student at penn state but do not currently have a job, I would however be able to pay payments on debt through a credit card but am not sure where to go to get one quickly.

If anyone has any ideas on how I could possibly consolidate myself and get out of this mess I would greatly appreiciate it. THanks

You can't close out your account until it is at a zero balance and it's a dumb idea anyway since you will get into legal trouble for writing bad checks either way.

Want a way out of this mess right away? Make a deposit into your account to cover the overdrafts and any related fees and then learn how to balance your check book.

Mike, get a full-time job immediately.

Schooling can wait.

I respectfully dissent from the senior judge. Consider bankruptcy. As a student, you probably have no assets and very little income. You also have time on your side to rebuild your credit (which is going to be screwed after this for a while, and probably is now). If you go for a full time job now, you have higher wages for the bank to take and probably can't get a good paying job because they will check your credit. Best option, of course, is someone to bail you out.

And, it goes without saying - stop writing checks and spending money you don't have! The way you're going, you're going to get arrested for check fraud. Do not get a credit card - it sounds like that would be trouble for you. Do, however, consider a student loan - deferrable until you finish your education. Bankruptcy is a last option, but better than quitting school, in my honest opinion.

A part time job at LEAST ! Plenty of full time students do it. With no income, no one is going to give you a credit card and with bad credit - which you WILL have, you sure won't get one. Once the bank sends you to ChexSystems for the unpaid overdrafts, then you won't get another checking account for a LEAST 5 years - so you need to do something to get some income NOW.

Bankruptcy over $1250 would be stupid, why trash yourself for 10 years over such a paltry amount of money when all he needs to do is get a job !

No. Filing bankruptcy will cost about $2000 -- it would be as cheap or cheaper just to deal with the problem.

If you got a car -- sell it. Got a computer or other stuff -- sell it. Take a part time job. Go tell Mom and Dad you been a bad boy and beg for the money.
