I'm being framed

I lived in Illinois and filed bankruptcy in 2001, I now live in Missouri. included were two credit cards that I was on as additional user. My ex was the account owner of both cards. I was told to use the one card for myself and anything we would be needing as a couple. I also used the other card for same reasons. The ex was on my checking account and checks from this account paid monthly installments on both the cards. Now I get a letter from the company(Chase) that has bought out the two cards(BankOne & First USA Bank) and they are wanting to talk to me about unauthoritized use and opening an account without the persons permission. I never knew the ex's social or income, so I don't know how I could have filled out a credit request. When I filed my bankruptcy I included the ex and the two accounts we held together. Do I need to hire an attorney (I really don't have the money), but I'm worried about being jailed for identity theft or card fraud. Help!

Okay, back up a few steps because I'm confused about some things.

First of all, do you mean to say that you were added as an authorized user? If so, how did your ex go about this doing this? Also, what is this account that was opened fraudelently? I don't understand that part because you initially said that he just added you to his cards. Next, WHY are they saying this? Is your ex trying to make trouble for you, and has he filed a police report?

Please give me a few more details.

I'm being framed, cont

My ex opened a second account with a balance transfer. Now he has filed a fraud report(May 2005) stating he didn't give me access to this one account and he didn't open the second. They are investigating me for fraud, in the use of the one account and opening the second without his permission. From what the woman at the card company told me, I was an authorized buyer on the first acct, but not on the second. I had a card from the second, so I know he put me on there as an authorized buyer.
