Question

judgment

What is the name of your state? Pennsylvania

I have a judgment against me for $1149. I contacted the creditor because I wanted to pay them what I owe. I was finally able to use a portion of my tax return so I can take care of this account. They sent me a letter stating that I had to pay in addition to the judgment their legal fees and interests until today or until they recieve payment. What should I do? I really do not have enough to pay all that.

My response:

What do you mean by, "What should I do?"

It's a judgment, for Christ's sake! Yes, you owe the interest, attorney's fees and court costs above the original debt amount.

Should we take up a "collection plate" for you?

Ok law guys.. I thought the atty's fees were generally INCLUDED in a judgment amount, not tacked on after the fact. I understand about the accruing interest while the judgment goes unpaid, but how is one supposed to know EXACTLY what you have to pay when all you have is the judgment paperwork stating a balance - then you get slammed with something more ??

Just trying to understand the process .. thanks guys
