just got deposition by video need help

just received from credit card lawyer notice to take deposition by video tape?
What does this mean? and they have a bunch of questions to fill out.they already gave us a summons and we did answer that then they sent us this? what are we suppose to do with it. They are wanting us to call them but also said they can use everything we say against us. Wanting to know if we have had any past crimes all kind of weird stuff. like past businesses or ever been
in involving lawsuit all kind of strange things. act like we are millionaires or something. don't have money for lawyers or anything.

This is strange. Video depositions are usually reserved for big dollar corporate cases. Maybe this is something new. Maybe video is cheaper than a court reporter? Or perhaps the video is being transmitted two way back like a video conference and this is a way to save on travel costs for the creditor's attorney?

A deposition by video tape is just that. You sit in a room and someone turns on the video camera and starts asking you questions.

Lets start from the beginning. You said you can't afford a lawyer. Have you called the local Legal Aid for help -- there are probably local attorneys who volunteer to help people of modest means. You can also call the local bar association, explain what you got and they can sometimes refer you to a lawyer to will handle it free or near-free.

How much do you owe?
Have you been served with a summons or a complaint?
Did you file a response to the summons or complaint? If so, what did you say?

I've participated in a lot of depositions and my general sense is that they should not be asking questions that are not relevant to the case at hand. For example, past crimes should not be an issue unless they are alleging some sort of fraud on your part.

Have you thought about filing bankruptcy? It would make all this go away.

owe $28,000 to this one , replied to summons and denied all there charges.
they want us to make a settlement offer but parents may lend us alittle bit but no where near that, do you have to have a lawyer there.P.S. we went to 3 different laywers they just don't know what to do.
