Late Payment due to Ex on Credit ReportWhat is the name of your state? California My ex-boyfriend and I (we've been broken up for 5 years) bought a truck when we were together. My credit was good but i had lower income than he, so the loan was in my name and he put the downpayment and paid the monthly note. When we broke up, it was fair that he keep the truck as he'd put the money into it, but he needed the note to be left in my name. As we were and are friends, I trusted him to continue making timely payments. He did this until the 2 final payments on the truck which were very late (3 mos) but paid off the truck. This has shown up negatively on my credit report just at the time i'm applying for a mortage. Is there any way that I can have this removed from my credit report? Thanks in advance for any help! |

| I have not. I didnt know if it was something i could dispute as the loan that's recording the lates is in my name. Will the CRA remove the negative if I explain the situation? |

| No. It was YOUR loan that was paid late, so the information is accurate. However, you are allowed to add a short statement to the credit report to explain. Creditors may consider this information when evaluating your credit report. |

| You've the right to dispute anything on your credit report. The standard is accurate and, verifable. You can try disputing as never late and see what happens. You may also wish to post this at both www.creditnet.com and, www.creditboards.com Both sites deal with credit repair. THe library at both sites have templates of goodwill letters that may be of interest. |
