Question

law suit

What is the name of your state? california
My x husband and I have been divorced for eleven years. We live under the same roof, but not as Common Law. We don't comengil any of our debts.or funds or lives We live our seperate lives. In 2001 my x husband opened a credit card account and put my name on it. I never saw the card, used the card and had no idea there was such a card. He then lost his job and couldn't pay the bill. The balance is over $12,000.00 The bank is now sueing him as an individual and also sueing me as an individual. I am representing myself In Propria Persona. I am on MediCal and 62 yrs old. I have very good credit and don't want it affected. I don't know how the bank can sue me for a debt my x husband created without my knowledge. He owes the money, not me. Can anyone give me some advice? I have filed out all the forms and am ready to file them with the court. I used to be a Paralegal and know a little about the law, but I'm not sure about this. When this is all over,if it hasn't ruined my credit I am selling the house and moving away. The Credit Reporting Agencies investaged the matter and deleated the account from my credit report. I need an answer. Thank you, Marilyn Green
