Lease Contract

What is the name of your state? SC
I am in a dispute with a leasing company of credit card machines.
They say I owe $2500 including late fees for lease of credit card machine on a buisness I sold. The business was in NC and I now live in SC. I disputed their credit claim and told their collections agent to take legal action to collect. What is the SOL and how can I get this off my credit report?
