leasing space-business

What is the name of your state? texas
Here's the story...We moved our business, prematurely, to a better location (space opened up, finally). We owe 6 more months on the current lease. ONE YEAR HAS ELAPSED..The collection agency and I made a 'verbal agreement', whereas, I would give him 16 signed checks for $500.00, and they would deposit, monthly. The collection agency has already run the first two checks through, which both cleared. Now the agency is wanting all the money up front. My contention is that since they cashed the first check, that executed the verbal agreement. DO THEY HAVE A LEG TO STAND ON, OR WE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY THE PIPER?
PLEASE ADVISE..
