Left car behind in States, buyer not taking over paymentsWhat is the name of your state? Florida/United States prior Scotland/United Kingdom now. Hello, Upon leaving the states, I could not sell my personal vehicle before leaving. I was going to turn the car into the bank, but a neighbor asked me if he could take over payments. Without writing up a contract (too in a rush and knowing my credit would get zapped either way) I handed him the keys to the car along with my vehicle tag hoping for the best. The buyer has not payed for almost 2 months now. Strangely enough, the buyer still chooses to call me here and even given me excuses as to why he has not made payments. I plan to return to the states one day. Should I just drop the issue? Should I call the bank and explain the situation? I am sure they will send a repo man out to find the car, but I would bet that he has the car hidden in another city. Someone suggested that I report the car stolen. Should I report the tag stolen? That doesn't sound right. I wonder how he plans to get the car registered in his name since I just handed him the keys. Thing concerning me the most is that my tag is still valid and on the car and he is driving around with it. Or should I just leave it all alone as my credit still took a hit on this one anyway? Thanks! Last edited by beeboah; 03-15-2004 at 11:05 AM. |
