Loosing my sanity

Back in July 2001, my son was stung by Jellyfish and life flighted to a nearby hospistal. My husband has custody of my son, and has had custody of him for years. When the hospital asked who was responsible for him, my ex signed the papers as the responsible party for the bill. Neither I, nor my current husband signed anything. Well, months later, it's obvious that it was not paid. Now I have a lady calling me and harrassing me to no end. The first time she called, she asked for my ex-husband I told her that my ex-spouse did not reside here and that we had been divorced for over 7 years now. She then asked if I was the parent of "my son's name" and I said yes. She proceeded to tell me that I was responsible for this bill as well. I tried to explain the custody deal to her but she became arrogant. She then told me that she could have my husbands wages attached since I do not work. I stay at home with the other two children. She said she was also referring this debt to be transferred from my ex-husbands name to mine or my new husbands. I told her I did not understand how she could do that, she said they simply could. We can't have this kind of situation since my husband is active miliatry and he has to keep a clean record for security clearance. We do not have $4,000 dollars to pay for this debt neither, my husband is only a E-3 and they make next to nothing.
But this woman continuously calls day after day, she tells me to shut off my cable, and to discontinue my internet and pay this bill. She tells me I am responsible for this and it is being slapped in my lap. She told me it is MY responsibility to see that my ex pays this pay or me and my husband will have. She has literally left me into tears upon ending the conversation to the point where I have literally been so nautious and upset, that I end up ill. (I have three peptic ulcers). Please, if anyone knows of any truth of these actions she is threatening me with, please help by telling where I stand with this.. Thank you in advance ** The incident took place in the state of Florida in July of 2001, but we were moved to a new duty station and now live in Maryland. We have been here since October 31, 2001.**

Your will see that what the bottom-feeder debt collectors are doing is clearly a violation of the federal law.

Get their information (name, number, etc.) and take action.

Tell your husband to go to Jag. They will get them off of your back. I'm in the military also, been there done that, had same situation before.
