lost name of credit card companyWhat is the name of your state? Texas Some time ago I applied to buy a car. I was turned down for the loan because my revolving credit rates are so high. In fact, I've been turned down for anything I apply for latley because of that and my student loan that I nearly defaulted on when I was unemployed and still searching for work. Some days later, a credit card company called and said I was pre-approved for a credit card with them. They said they gave out credit cards between 2 and 6, or 2 and 20 (I forgot what the second figure was) thousand dollars, and that they helped people with bad credit rating rebuild their credit by making good reports on them monthly as they made steady payments on their card. I thought this was an excellent idea, as me and my husband are looking to purchase a home later this year, since we are expecting our second child and feel that an apartment is far too cramped, and learned we might make out better financially with a sensible mortgage. Problem is, I had only been home from work about 3 hours, and was asleep when the call came in. I asked them to call back the next day if possible and that I would continue the application process then. This call came in at my parent's home, not my own, and I had only stopped there after work to sleep since its too dangerous to drive home when exhausted. The next day was my day off so I did not retunr to their house and missed the call. The matter completely slipped my mind, so that I forgot to have them wait for a return, and unfortunately the number is no longer on their caller ID. Has anyone heard of a company like this? The APR was at 6.99 % I think, and currently the one on my current card is nearing 20. I'd like to do a balance transfer to this better company and save myself some interest money, since I cannot afford to make payments over 125 dollars and lowering my debt has been a very slow and frustrating process when the interest adds so much back to it each month. If you believe you've heard of the company and know who they are, or know one similar, please let me know? |

| You can always pull your credit report to see if they've looked at it. Their inquiry should show their name and address (and sometimes their phone number). |

| will it cost any money to pull my credit report? I ask because I was very sick last month with pneumonia, and missed 4 days of work, delaying my paycheck from the normal pay day of the 1st until possibly the 15th or later according to HR, so every little penny I have is needed until I am on a proper pay schedule again. If it will cost, do you know how I would go about pulling it or if there is an inexpensive way to do it? |

| I heard last month that Experian was letting people in TX pull their report for free under FACTA. Go to www.annualcreditreport.com and try to pull your Experian report. Should that not work, try going directly through the Experian web site. |

| I would ask them to send you a paper application, not over the phone, so that you can look at all their terms and decide if it's a good deal. Pre-approval means you will have to apply and then they will decide you are approved based on your credit report. If you haven't applied with them, they can't look at your credit report - and therefore it won't be on your credit report. I would be very weary of them calling on the phone - but that's just my opinion. Last edited by tabathadolley; 01-04-2005 at 10:51 PM. |

| I just noticed that. I signed up for the free trial and looked into my report, saw how bad it is and all LOL, but that one place isnt listed as you said it wouldnt be. The probelm is i can't find the number of the agency, and dont know their name because I was never able to catch the call again. It came to my parents residence for me, and I'm rarely there more than 2 days a week. Is there any other way I might find out? Anyone heard of something similar? |

| They could have pulled a different report such as Equifax or TransUnion. |

| Look at your phone bill... If you have a cell phone they called you on you can look at the date and figure it out from there...
