medical bill sent to litigation

i live in california. in 1997, an attorney settled a personal injury case for us. all the medical bills were paid except for one. the billing company for the doctor told us that the bill is $680 in 1999. the attorney sent the check but the doctor refused to accept the check. the check came back in March, 2000, with a new bill indicating that the bill is actually $3780 and that the billing company made an error back in 1999. the attorney told me he is disputing the bill with the doctor's office and told us to ignore the bill. it is 2 years later and the bill has been sent to a collection office. what can I do now? the attorney is still telling me to ignore the bill. he is still holding on to the rest of the settlement money and he claims that is not enough to pay the bill. he gave me the run around as to how much is exactly in the trust account.

Go directly to your state bar association and file a complaint against the your attorney. THAT TRUST ACCOUNT is very controlled by law and he must be able to clearly account for every dime.
