Message for JETX

What is the name of your state?

What is your success rate with judgement enforcements? I'm certain that in most cases you find yourself trying to squeeze blood out of turnips.

There's a reason why 80% of judgements go uncollected. And it's not because the creditors assigned the case to someone who is incompetent. Nor is it because most debtors are lying cheats who have managed to conceal their assets. It's because people go into debt, because they DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY!

People go into debt because they are spending money they do not have in the first place ! The inability to pay comes later, when they've stacked up so much debt that it outstrips their income. In cases where people have had life-changes - like layoffs, catastrophic medical bills, etc., I can sympathize - been there, done that. When someone just keeps running up credit cards to buy every little thing their hearts desire - beyond their income - well.. my sympathy meter goes way down.

Debt is an integral part of the American Dream. "Own your own home"... and then pay the mortage untill you die. We're a nation living on credit. Who doesn't have student loans? How many of us paid cash for the car(s) we're driving.

True, true, there are people who abuse credit, racking up debt that they know they cannot pay or have not intention of paying.
But alot of us do have legitimate sob stories (I know you've been there, done that).

I have every intention of paying my debts once I get back on my feet. For the time being I'm struggling with the basic neccessities for myself and my children. And my point of contention was with JETX who's replies to many questions (mine included) begins with the basic assumption that those in debt must pay at any cost, no matter the reason.

I suppose it goes along with his job description as a judgement enforcer.
