| My attorney dropped the ball!! (New York) Several years ago I used my wife's credit card for some business expenses, including paying some past due mortgage payments on a rental property which we owned. After a long hard fall, I walked away from my business and the property. My equipment sold at auction and the banks took back the real estate, this worked out good for me and no money was owed. Years later, I started getting calls from the credit card company demanding payment. After being served with papers, I went to my attorney who offered them $2000 on a $9000 balance (mostly interest and late charges) This was over a year ago and I had not heard anything else. Now the CC Co. Started calling again and I've received a notice regarding a $10,000 judgment against my wife. My attorney hasn't returned my 8 phone calls, and I can only assume that they declined our offer, the case went to court, and we lost by default. If this is in fact the case, do I have any recourse?? |
