my daughter needs help

i am new to all of this but have to try and help my daughter out somehow and if anyone can help me i would be deeply grateful. my daughter is 26 with a husband and four girls and is now expecting again. that is not the problem, the problem is the clinic that she goes to refuses to let her see her doctor that has delivered all of the other children because she owes a bill to the collection agency and they say that they can not allow her to see any doctor in that clinic until the collection agency says that it is okay. how stupid is this? she now has insurance through her husbands work and they still well not let her see anyone. they say she has to go to another clinic. my question is how can a collection agency control this. by the way she lives in minnesota. please need help on this situation as soon as possible. thank you for your help and concern.

I disagree. 26 years old, 4 1/2 children AND outstanding can't-pay bills. That is a problem in the making!!!

Not. She owes the bill to the CLINIC and they have turned the bill over to a collection agency to try to collect from this deadbeat non-payer.

Very easily. As stated above, the debt is owed TO the clinic, not an 'agency'. And the clinic can decide (in non-emergency) who they treat and who they don't treat. In this case, they have decided (rightfully) that they will treat those patients who have shown to pay their bills and to exclude those who don't. Guess which side of the line your daughter falls on.

The answer to this problem is ENTIRELY in your daughters control. She can pay her existing debt and very probably have access to the clinic, or she can refuse to pay and find another clinic. Her choice.
