need adviceWhat is the name of your state? Ga My small business issued credit cards to employees as "authorized users" on my personal AMEX green card in 1995. In 1996 the cards were not renewed. Now this card is in default for 20k. The collection agency is calling our old employees and telling them they are liable for the debt in default which was incurred in 2001, 5 years later. None of these people applied to AMEX for the cards. We simply paid a fee for extra cards. Are they liable? |

| If your employees were not CO-SIGNERS on the card and did not sign anything, then as AU's they are NOT liable for the debt. The collection agency would have to produce papers showing your employees signatures, and as only AU's they won't be able to do it. |

| Sorry, but Ladynred is not correct on this one. AmEx is the only credit card issuer (to my knowledge) that issues specific company cards in the employees name. And when the employee uses it, he accepts responsibility for the repayment. (This is one of the sneaky ways that AmEx has become a 'business' only card).
__________________ There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) pending in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution). Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport! |

| Wow, Halket, thanks for that info !! I'm sorry, I had no idea.. glad you're here  Sneaky is right ! Geez... Isn't there any way they could get the employees out from under the threats ??? If the cards were used strictly for business expenses that were to be paid by the business and not the employees ? I'll have to remember this if any company I work for ever offers me a "company" AMEX card !!! |

| Actually, the card was my personal card. Not a company card. Just a regular amex green in my name. Does this count? |

| Just read my above comment and I want to clarify... The card we issued other cards on (authorized users) was my personal card. Not a business card. The people have not held cards for 6 years. |

| I spoke to AMEX and they say for a PERSONAL account the authorized user is not liable. Just the primary cardholder. |

| Okay, I guess I didn't realize that this was your PERSONAL card. As such, the authorized users are NOT responsible for YOUR debt.
