Exclamation

Need Advice, PLEASE

I live in Illinois, I signed a lease for a year on an apartment, I moved out after 5 months because I graduated college and moved back home. My roommates were supposed to have had someone to take my spot. ANYWAY they dont and now they are going to take me to court and I know Im liable but I have no job and no money and may even go back to school somewhere else if I cant find a job, what is going to happen if we go to court since I cant pay it? I have nothing of value unless they want to reposes my shoes.

Dear Mr. McClure:

The court will order a judgment against you for the amount of money you owe. Then, once you find a job the judgment creditor will garnish your wages to collect the money.

If you had an agreement with your roommates releasing you from the lease you should sue them in Small Claims Court to recover the money you have lost as a result of the transaction.
