Negative Credit Reporting That Belongs To My Husband

What is the name of your state? PA

Hello, my is that I carry health Insurance through my job for me and my husband. My husband went to the hospital one day and received services that were not covered by our insurance because the hospital was not in our network. When the hospital sent the bill, they sent it in my name. Meanwhile I was fighting with my insurance company, trying to get them to pay the bill. By the time I got a final answer from my insurance company, the hospital had reported the debt to the credit bureau under my name, not my husband's. Now I could see this happening if it were for my child, because a child can not be expected to be responsible for his/her own bill. Is this legal?
I was not with my husband and I did not sign anything. As a matter of fact, if I had been there I would not have allowed my to go to that particular hospital because i knew it was not in our PPO network. Are these people allowed to damage my credit like this?

As the primary insured, you are ultimatly resposible for any bills generated due to use of the insurance coverage. Everything you state is perfectly legal and proper.

The bill is not his. It is your insurance, not his. It is your bill, not his. You even claim the insurance is yours in your original post. By having your husband covered under YOUR insurance provided by YOUR employer, YOU are the party that is ultimately responsible for any bills not covered by the insurance coverage. Read the fine print if your policy.

You've let this get way out of hand. This happened many months ago for it to get to collections.
The best way to handle it is to work out payment arrangements with the hospital in return for them deleting any references to the account from your credit report. It would be worth putting it on a credit card to get it off your credit report.
