Negligence

What is the name of your state? Kansas

I was on the verge of moving to N.Y. last year and was searching the jobs on monster.com.
I apparently filled out an online app for Gap,or started filling one out (can't believe I'd be so dumb as to trust the web).never moved, and today received a letter from Gap telling me 2 laptops had recently been stolen, which contained my ss # and other info.
they of course are sorry, and it was a vender who promised they were secure....

they are offering a years worth of free credit report watching srevice and fraud assistance.
should I settle for that? What is the name of your state?

No... do NOT settle for their offer. Much better to accept nothing at all.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

I just thought since my ss# is pretty valuable and they promised to keep it safe and didn't,and I am at very high risk of identity theft due to what I feel was negligence that I might have a case.
thanks for all the kind help.
have a nice day.

You thought wrong. Your SSN number available quite readily already.
