never froze account while in boot camp

What is the name of your state? NY
In 2001 I had a credit card and never missed a payment but I joined the marine corps and the account was never frozen. I was in boot camp for a little over 3 months and when I got back the credit card company had charged me redicoulus amounts of late fees. Being that I was moving around so much the first year of my tour I wasn't able to contact a lawyer and get the situation taken care of. I recently just paid the the bill and a little extra to try and get the marks off my credit report all to together. However it is still on my report and still comes up as a revolving account. Is there anyway to get this taken off my credit report still?

Being in the military does not relieve you of paying your bills on time.

You did this to yourself; you have no one else to blame.

However, beg and plead with the credit card company; send them copies of your medals and stuff. Pull a guilt trip on them. Stuff like that.

This advice is for the future since it's too late to use it now, but if this ever happens again you can try and strike a deal with the credit card company to remove any negative items from your CR in exchange for paying them off in full. If you ever do use this tactic and the CCC agrees, make sure to get the agreement in writing.

Actually thanks for nothing. I already spoke to a lawyer on base and he said that If I am at boot camp and unable to pay the bill then I am only responsible for the amount I owed before I joined. I can not be charged late fees durign that time. But you worry about paying your bills on time and thanks for wasting my time.

That lawyer's information was incorrect.
