old debt

What is the name of your state? PA.

In Sept 2002 my wife and I recieved letters from a collection co stating we both owed appox. 200.00 each. The money was owed from when we were both on probation in 1991. As far as I new we paid everything owed. I told them I did not owe the money and the girl started to yell at my wife on the phone ,she hung up and the girl called back on her personal cell phone and said pay your bills bitch or you are going to jail. We called back and asked to speak to her manager and he said she would be dismissed for that.I checked my records and found all the reciepts I could from that time and they were almost the same amt.,within a few dollars.I hand delivered them to them in nov. 2002 and they said they would get back. Jan. 2003 they called again asking about the debt(no clue about the reciepts I gave them) saying they would get back . May 15 2003 they call again , again no clue to what I gave them,so I sent a certified letter w/rrr.telling them who I gave the reciepts to and when and who I owed the money to and what the org. amt. was and how much was paid.Again in June some one else called ,no clue to reciepts or cert. letter. to date they have called 3 more times. what can I do

Surely you just gave copies of the receipts.
Who is the collection agency and what sort of debt is this?

Were I you, I'd contact your state's AG. This sounds like some sort of a shakedown.
