Old information on my credit report

What is the name of your state? I reside in Oregon now, however at the time of the debt I was a resident of Nevada.

I was recently denied credit, so I requested a copy of my credit report. On this report is a few nasty scars that I thought had reached SOL and would be gone by now. But they are still there, even though it has been years since I made a payment or contacted the creditor.

Capital One account *****I had not made contact with since 1996, however they have continued to report charge off information in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and the lasted update was 09/02 it says I have a past due amount of $948. The Experian report says this at the bottom of the report "This account is scheduled to continue on record until 12-2004.

National Business Factor CA, still has me listed from a 1997 bill for $131 which I did pay in 2000. I believe I still have the paperwork to prove this was paid. However again the reports says the account is scheduled to continue on record until 10-2004

How can I get these off of my credit report. The Capital One account concerns me the most. Please let me know how I can get them to quit updating or how do I get them to remove it from my CR, or should I have to pay them off after all these years.

The last payment or contact with Capital One was (if I am reading the report correctly) 03/1996. Why is it not scheduled to come off my CR until 12/2004. I thought the SOL in Nevada was 4 years and 6 in Oregon?

Any ideas or suggestions you may have to help me get these two mars on my credit report would be greatly appreciated. I have tried very hard to keep all my bills current and have not had any negative reports since 1999, all the rest say paid as agreed/never late. However these two old bills are ruining my chances for a car loan. and I would really like to get them taken off.

Thank you in advance for your help .

THe SOL means the time frame a creditor has to file a lawsuit. That has passed in your case but, negative info remains on your credit report for 7 years with the exception of a Chapter 7 bk which is 10 years.
