Paid bill, but creditor never depositedGeorgia: If I sent in a check for a bill a year ago, but the creditor never deposited the check, hence no deduction from my checking account, does the creditor still have the right to collect the money today? Any precedents out there? |

| JLong: What proof do you have that the money was received by the creditor? The creditor has no responsibility for the mail. It is your responsbility to get the money to the creditor. JASON@LEGISLATOR.COM |

| That's pretty much what I thought. I cannot prove that they received it. It just seems like the creditor should have been looking for their money before now if they did not receive the check. I guess I'm going to have to chase everyone down from now on to make sure they deposit the checks I write. Out of the two thousand checks I have written, this has never happened before. |
