Parent's credit card?

What is the name of your state? California

My parents want to be able to loan me their credit card for emergency purposes. Am I able to do this? Everytime they've made credit card purchases they've been asked for ID, so how is this possible? Is there a list of approved users that I need to be put on.. or what? How does this work?

Why wouldn't your parents just talk to the issuing bank and ask these questions if they didn't know? Why would they send their (presumably) teenaged son to a legal advice forum? Hmmm?

No one here is going to assist you in committing fraud.

How old are you?
Are you in college?
Maybe you can obtain a credit card of your own (ie student credit card) for emergencies with a "small" amt. of credit.

Yeah, I'm going to do that eventually. I'm going on a a road trip with some friends this Sunday though and they're insisting that I take their credit card in case of an emergency. They're saying that all I have to do is take it and show my ID which has the same last name on it, but I don't think that'll do it. I'm guessing they're going to have to put me on an approved users list in order for it to be valid, so I wanted to make sure of this, because if there really is an emergency I want to be able to use it if I have to.

Haha aw I use my parents credit card all the time and know a lot of other kids that do too. You have to get one of your parents to call the 1800 number on the back of the card and add you as a valid signer...you may still get IDed when using it but the store will call the number on the card and they will verify that you are able to use it.

Enjoy your trip but don't forget your parents' credit card is just to be used for an emergency.
