Question

Passed away leaving $$$ in savings account??? No will either...

What is the name of your state? This is in Tenn...

If a parent passes away and there is no will, as well as that parent didn't own a home or car, completly nothing except a few boxed of clothes and 2 bank accounts. 1 worth $7.86 and another worth $7800, can the parent's children( all who are grown) use the death certificate to close the accounts and collect the money?
This person lived in a V.A. hospital for yrs. They were not married. Only had 2 children, who are the next of kin. How would that work??? 18 months prior to passing, the parent told the oldest child about a bank account and gave a pin number, but didn't say to which bank or any other info. Upon looking into it further, they found out where and what bank it was to. There has been almost 2 yrs since last talking with that parent, and now they have passed. What would happen to the money if no one claims it from the bank?
Tried to make situation short and brief, let me know if more info needed.....
Thanks,
Stars...What is the name of your state?
