Past debt $600

What is the name of your state? KY

Hello everyone, I have a question for you. I just received a call from what I believe was a collection agency about an account that is owed $600.00 from back in the year 2000. I filed chapter 7 bankruptecy back in 2000 and this debt shoudl have been included, but I am starting to wonder if it was or not. I sent the info on my discharge to them yet I received another call today, but I missed the call. When they called the other day they said that I owed $600 and they were going to pursue legal action, but they said to wait and give me a chance to tell my side. I am not sure if they cleared my account or not becasue of the paper I sent. Anyway the main question I am asking is it worth someone from another state to sue me for $600? I have always heard that they won't do it because it would cost more than that to get their money back. I am not sure what state they are from, but I know it is not Ky. Just let me know if you think this is a threat to try and get the money.

The FIRST thing you need to determine is whether or not this debt was listed in your bankruptcy filing !! Get your papers, specifically the creditor matrix, and if you don't have copies, go to the BK court and GET copies.

If the debt WAS included and discharged, then this moron CA is breaking FEDERAL law in attempting to collect on a discharged debt. That's a HUGE violation and you can put their butts in a sling for it.

If the debt was NOT included, then you may have a problem, but find out FIRST before you worry about paying them a single penny.

They have to sue you where you live now or where you were when you entered into the agreement. If you've not moved, then they sue you where YOU are.
