past judgement and new marriageWhat is the name of your state? MO my question is regarding a judgement i have from an embezzlement conviction 10 years ago. i make monthly payments, but due to the amount of the judgement, this will probably never be paid off. i have gotten my life together and met a man, and we would like to get married. My question is, if we get married, will he be liable or have to assume responsiblity for this past debt? |

| No, if you get married your new husband will NOT bear any liability whatsoever for your past debts. The only affect it will have on the two of you is if you try for any kind of joint credit as the judgment on your credit report will be a problem.
