Problems with bankerWhat is the name of your state? Iowa We have our mortgage with a local banker and we were 2 weeks late and the banker went and took the money out of our account without our knowledge and returned checks (ISF) because he did this. Can he legally do this without our knowledge? Can we make him pay for the return charges on the checks also? We were planning on making house payment next week. |

| It's called executing an offset. When you opened your account at the bank, you gave them permission to take funds from your account to apply to a loan that was late or in default. 2 weeks is quick on the trigger unless you've a history of late pays. |

| And if you don't want it to happen again, close the bank account and move it to another bank.
