question about bounced check

What is the name of your state? New York

Ok so I wrote out a check for $150 from Bank A and deposited the check into Bank B. I thought the check had cleared so I used the $150 that was in the account because it was available. Their was not enough money in Bank A to cover the check so the check bounced. Now Bank B is telling me I must pay them within 24 hours or else I will face much harsher repercussions which they won't tell me. I don't have the money at this time, is their anything this bank can do besides charge me a NSF fee? would this be considered criminal fraud where I could possiblely go to jail? Please give me so advice here, im kinda worried.
thanks

Sounds like check kiting.

If you had the money in Bank A to cover the check, why don't you just give to Bank B. Criminal charges are likely.

do you think the bank would pursue this over $150 and what type of penalties could I be seeing in New York?

Yes, the bank is bound to pursue this as they have an obligation to the depositors.
Possible punishments (from low to high)
At the very least, passing a bad check would be a Class B Misdemeaner with a fine of up to $500.
Bank fraud could result in up to 30 years and/or a fine of up to $1,000,000.
