rebuilding credit

What is the name of your state? NC

i am in the process of trying to rebuild my destroyed credit-divorce, bankruptcy, with a bit of youthful stupidity mixed in. so far i have been moderatly succesful, as i have had some items deleted, paid some off, ect.
my question is this: i recently noticed on my credit report that my ex-BOYFRIEND is listed as my spouse! i am not too sure how this happened, but as hard as i am trying to fix my credit right now, he is completely ruining his. we broke up because of his drug problem and it has basically put him out on the street. he just got evicted, he is not paying court ordered child support, and i am quite sure that he didn't pay any of the bills that were due when he got pad-locked out of his apartment (electricity, cable, ect) the only reason he still has a vehicle is because it is in his mom's name, and she has made the last 6 payments to keep her credit in check. so, can any of this show up on MY credit since they (experian) seem to think we are married?

Write Experian a letter (certified RRR) detailing the error in your credit file and that he is NOT your spouse and that you are not liable for his debts. Ask them to investigate their records and to correct them (a good sample letter for disputing records is at: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/ )

You might also consider asking them to put a 'fraud alert notice' in your credit file at the same time.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

i have read it, and i wasn't trying to disregard what he said, i was just asking if i could do the same thing online. i have been more succesfull with getting the items deleted that i have disputed online, instead of by mail. not sure why, but it has just worked out that way. but i wasn't sure if personal information was handled the same way as the rest of the info on your credit report.
also, i noticed that they had addresses listed for me since i was in high school (i will be 30 in 3 months)...there are quite a few addresses listed for me since i was in the military right after school. it makes it look like i have been extremely transient. is that something that will have a derogatory effect on me at any point? once i get my credit straightened out, i would like to buy a house and i am trying to do whatever i can now to iron all of the wrinkles out, so to speak.

I've been having a pretty good head-butting match here of late with CRA's, and I absolutely recommend that you handle it in writing, keep copies, send written communication RRR-that way you've got hard copy paper trail, should problems arise later. Slow, I know, but sure. The CRA probably would open an investigation per an online request but if it involves possible fraud you may not be able to monitor your investigation's progress via internet, once you've filed the dispute.

Having the listing of a previous address that I never lived at removed from the CR wasn't difficult, they took my word for it.

Since this error may well be an indication of fraud or even just attempted fraud, I would recommend you take advantage of your right as possible victim of same to get a FREE copy of your report from the other 2 major CRAs,and get em all straightened out now.

thank you guys...i currently have disputes going on at all 3, so hopefully in the next 2 weeks, when the 30 days runs out, i will be getting 3 fresh new copies of my credit reports. experian is the only one with a long list of addresses, but all three have my ex-boyfriend listed as my spouse.

That had to be a startling revelation Almost as bad as discovering that you once lived in Milwaukee WI and didn't remember a thing about it

A person on another site reported a shocker. He pulled his reports and discovered he and his 17 year old son are married!
