returned check fee question on a debit cardWhat is the name of your state? Nebraska I activated a debit/credit card and then used it that day to make a payment (probably a dumb move). I had sufficient funds in the account when i made the payment. However the payment never showed up on my bank account and the bill was not paid. On my next cable bill i was a charged a $20 returned check fee by the cable company. The cable company said the card went through and for whatever reason a payment was not made. The bank and credit card company have said that it did not go through and does not show up anywhere on their documents. I have spent a lot of time on the phone with both companies and they are telling me the exact opposite things and nether will take responsibility for the error. The question I had was who actually charges the $20 dollars? Does that all go to the cable company or does some of it go to the bank as well, because if the bank is charging for it how can they not have any record of it. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks, eric27What is the name of your state? |

| Based on the info you gave, you owe the $20 to the cable company.
