rotten ex

What is the name of your state?ohio
asking on behalf of friend. she had income tax deposited in soon to be ex husband's account,(things weren't bad early in year,). now he won't release the 5grand. says she owes him for court charges he accured for a domestic violence case ( on her). the taxes are coming so late because she has to file injured spouse due to back child support he owes. is there any way for her to get her money back. the account is only in his name not a joint account.

How long ago were the funds deposited? Was it done by direct deposit (ACH)? If so, tell your friend to contact the tax agency (you don't mention if it is the IRS or state) and tell them that the funds went into her ex's account. They may be able to get them back depending on how long ago the deposit was made.

This is kind of a long shot, but it is the fastest and easiest way to circumvent the uncooperative ex. Good luck.
