slander?/Defamation?

Oregon

A man we owe a debt to has told
several employees that my husband works with at the Post office
that we are dead beets and the we don't pay are our bills ect.
He has even offered them $300 for information leading to my employment.
Is this slander? we do owe the money, But what about our privacy.
By the way were not dead beets..
My 17 year old son was hit by a car and killed 19 mths ago. (another story I would like to talk about) we were sued for damages to her suv.

If the statements made are true it is not slander.

Did they threaten to boil you and serve you with dinner?

looks at our mail ever day..
The Multi Millionaire Jerk has to be breaking the Law.

The only say you have in this matter is to report what you know to police. It is up to the postal employee to proceed with the issue in whatever manner they are obligated.

Chapter 162 — Offenses Against the State and Public Justice
162.015 Bribe giving. (1) A person commits the crime of bribe giving if the person offers, confers or agrees to confer any pecuniary benefit upon a public servant with the intent to influence the public servant’s vote, opinion, judgment, action, decision or exercise of discretion in an official capacity.
(2) Bribe giving is a Class B felony. [1971 c.743 §179]
