sol on credit card debtWhat is the name of your state? Louisiana Iwas disabled in 1994 and could not pay extensive credit card debts. My last payment transaction was in December of 1995.I was informed that some of the debts were sold to collection agencies. I thought the SOL was seven years, which would have ended any legal action Dec. 2002. Most of the creditors have lost contact with me, but a couple still demand payment by mail and still call from time to time. Do they still have a legal right to continue action against me? If not can I legally have the unpaid reports removed from my credit bureau without fearing any future legal action. I/m still disabled and understand they cannot garnish my disablilty insurance. Also, why should i be obligated to a company who purchased my unpaid debts. I had no contract with the buyer of that debt. Last edited by SOL Louisiana; 10-13-2003 at 04:26 PM. |

| The SOL on cc debt ran long ago. CC's are open accounts. STATE: LOUISIANA † INTEREST RATE Legal: 9.75% Judgment: 9.75% STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS (IN YEARS) Open Acct.: 3 Written Contract: 10 Promissory Notes: 5 Domestic Judgment: 10 Foreign Judgment: 10 Dispute any credit report listing as obsolete. They can't legally sue you. If they do, you must respond with the SOL defense. |
