What is the name of your state? ohio Son has an old credit card debt from college days. All of a sudden Portfolio Recovery has been calling and sending letters to him about it. The credit card has not been paid on since 1996. Is this past the SOL for collections and, if so, is there a letter he can send them to tell them to go away?

A: You can if you want to but if your sure it's been more than 4 years since you last paid on it, the validation won't be necessary.
