SOL on Debt

What is the name of your state? California.

I received a letter from a Collection Agency...stating that Capital One had purchased my Shell Oil debt. $813.67

The state that the debt date owed:
11/30/89....nearly 14 years ago.

I don't remember having a Shell card. I was living in Europe during this time. I don't have any records from this long ago.

They state that if I do not respond to the letter within 30 days of receipt, they will consider the debt valid.

What should I do?

1989 is long past the SOL. I'd write the collection agency a letter saying you've no recollection of this account and in any event, it is time barred and never contact you about this matter again. Send the letter CRRR.

With a date that old, I would immediately suspect that it might be a typo. Do you have an overdue Shell account from 1998?

In any case, as Bigun suggested, send the agent a validation letter. Be specific on what you expect to be returned. A good sample letter can be found at http://www.creditinfocenter.com/
Send it certified RRR.

There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) pending in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution).

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!
