Soon to be X Wife used my credit card w/o authorization

What is the name of your state? Iowa

My current wife, in the past few months charged up my credit cards by using the convinence checks. She used 2 cards. One she had authority to use and another she did not. She totalled over 4000 on the unauthorised card. I have contacted the credit card company, and they are having an investigator review the checks and they will send me an affidavid to sign. My question has to do with the process. When it is confirmed via the investigator, what am I expected to do? contact the police? Let the CC company do it? What is the normal process? She knew she was not authorised. She took as much as she could out of the accounts as cash. 5000 is gone never to be found again. She racked up 20K in additional in credit cards debt before she filed for a divorce. Any info would be appriciated. Thanks

Just an opinion -- I would file a police report. I think it would help you with the credit card company.

Thanks for your opinion

FYI - The credit card company is actually being helpful and pro-active with this. I have no complaint with them. I am trying to pass debt that properly belongs to her, and would like to know what the consequences are for doing it this way. Am I going to be labelled as the father that sent the kids mother to jail? Etc.
