South Carolina - Returned Check Fee - No Sign

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? South Carolina.

I had a credit card recently expire. My gym membership was set up for an automatic draft from this credit card. I failed to update the information with the gym in a timely manner. I was charged a $30 fee. However, the gym didn't have a sign posted stating there would be a fee for any returned check. In South Carolina, is a posted sign required to charge this fee?

What would make you think a sign of stating so would necessary? Have you taken a look at your gym membership agreement?
