Statute of Limitations

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California.

I have a collection agency that is trying to collect some old debt that I cannot pay right now. The account was closed in 10/2006. Am I outside the SOL? If not, how long will it take to file for a judgement?

No they are not outside the SOL. You are better off negotiating with them and paying your debt ~ it is much cheaper for your that way.
